Spooky Halloween “Projection-Decoration”
Halloween is one of those holidays that really brings out the tinkerer in a lot of us holiday nuts. There’s a veritable laundry list of things to deploy, modify, and enhance all in search of becoming the spookiest house on the block and throwing the best party. Read on as we highlight how easily you can turn your projector into a Swiss Army knife of cool Halloween tricks!
Why would you want to do this? Because, obviously, it’s fun! You can live another year without incorporating a digital projector into your Halloween preparations, sure, but if you already have one on hand, or you’re just looking for another fantastic reason to purchase an outdoor theater system, then there’s no time like the present to ensure you’ve got the coolest Halloween display around.
Projecting on Windows and Doorways
Our favorite technique, is definitely using rear projection on windows and doorways. There are a variety of loops well suited for this task, and depending on what material and lighting scheme you use you can create all sorts of effects. Our own Recreation Series works perfect! Simply drape the screen over a window or doorway. Choose your spooky media to play and set the projector up behind the screen! That's it! Just a reminder: You may want to reverse the image on the projector so it displays correctly from the outside.
Projecting onto Walls
But what if I don’t have a front yard, and or windows that will work for projecting? Although projecting through windows and mesh is definitely the most wow-factor producing theatrical effect, there are lots of animations suited for wall projection. Project your spooky showings directly on the wall or use the screen! One of the best surfaces that is sure to give the kids a fright while trick-or-treating is the Garage Door! Set your projector up in front of the garage door OR drape your stretch screen across the surface and rear project through it! Don't want to scare the little ones? No problem! Use the same technique and play a fun Halloween Themed movie for the kids to gather around and enjoy all their hard earned treats!
